Call for Papers

Model Driven Development technology, by raising the level of abstraction, provides a powerful toolset to the software development process. The change of paradigm, from code centric to model centric engineering, implies an evolution in the processes, tools and methods used by IT providers and IT divisions. This evolution is strategic and needs to be defined and planned carefully to achieve a successful adoption.

This workshop will bring together companies and researchers to discuss, among other issues, how the evolution from code centric to model centric development can be managed. It is the successor of the First Workshop "From code centric to model centric software engineering: Practices, Implications and ROI" (C2M2005), which took place in collaboration with the European Conference on Model Driven Architecture - Foundation and Application (ECMDA-FA) on 8th of November 2005. This year's edition will take place again in collaboration with the ECMDA-FA 2006 (http://www.ecmda-fa.org) on July 10th, 2006, at Bilbao, Spain.

July 10-13, 2006 - European Software Institute, Bilbao, Spain.

The workshop aims to provide a forum for sharing experience and discussing the usage of MDD in different industries, with the potential for uncovering new opportunities for MDD usage and strengthening organizational practices supported by feedback from experienced industrial users. It is also the aim of this workshop to bring together people from academia and industry, who can provide their experiences and highlight new challenges in their current practice and how they and envision adopting MDD.

Topics of Interest

Workshop organisers are expecting papers focused on, but not limited to, the following subjects:

  • Organizational impacts of evolving from code centric to model centric
  • Challenges for the successful adoption of MDD: how to address them
  • Measurement of successful introduction of MDD
  • Tools: what tools are currently available and used by the industry?
  • Similarities and differences of the appliance of MDD methodology in different industries
  • Best practices for MDD introduction
  • Business benefits of MDD introduction

Submission Details

  1. Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract of no more than 5 pages presenting their industrial experiences of using MDD. Extended abstracts should be sent by email to Asier Azaceta () in PDF format. Each abstract will be reviewed by the program committee.
