ESI International Awards for Excellence in the Promotion of the Information Society

ESI is proud to present the ESI Awards for Excellence in the Promotion of the Information Society, which recognise efforts made by an organisation with a visible commitment to reducing the Digital Gap and to reaching the Information Society for All.

The winners will be announced at the ESI Awards Ceremony that will take place in Bilbao on the 4th June 2009 at 19:30 h.

The Awards Ceremony will be held in English and Spanish, with simultaneous translation.

Criteria for participation

ESI launches its Awards to any organisation that have demonstrated their excellence in promoting the Information Society. The criteria by which the jury will evaluate the applications include:

  • Visible commitment to continuously Bridging the Digital Gap
  • Objective evidence of achievement and/or impact, both in terms of number of users as well as the effect on each of them or the global effect
  • Originality of the proposed solution
  • Universality of application and future sustainability

Likewise, several categories of Awards have been established. Three awards will be presented, one in each of the following categories:

  • For bridging the Digital Gap among SMEs
  • For bridging the Digital Gap among Citizens
  • Most innovative and creative project

This award is symbolized by a glass piece, a work of art created by Anabel Quincoces, a basque artist who made the pieces for the ESI awards for Software Excellence.
