European Software Institute (ESI) is a non-profit private technological center launched as an initiative of the European Commission, with the support of the Basque Government and leading European companies working in the Information Technology field.
ESI's main activity is based on helping the software industry in their objectives of producing better software of a higher quality, on time, in the best way and at a lower cost. ESI offers consultancy and training services as well as technological support using its highly qualified team of experts and a worldwide alliance network.
ESI also develops a wide range of initiatives directed at promoting the development of the Information Society through the use of ICT for citizens and enterprises, especially SMEs and micro-enterprises.

Software Product Line (SPL) Engineering exploits Systematic Reuse by identifying and methodically reusing software artefacts to derive different but related software systems. Developing SPL Architectures requires analysis skills to identify, model, and encapsulate domain and product Knowledge in these reusable artefacts.
The objective of this workshop is to bring together practitioners and researchers to investigate the role of Knowledge management in SPL Engineering in various domains and industry settings.
Two IT companies from Colombia have recently achieved the ITMark Quality Certification, a business and technical process certification service addressed to IT SMEs.
The name of these companies that have achieved the certificate are Mangalink and Sigma Ingenieria. Another 5 IT Companies have started an improvement plan of their internal processes in order to achieve the ITMark certificate in the near future.
The aim of this project is to set up an information technology cluster in the region of Manizales (Colombia) in order to compete in international markets.
This project has been promoted by Parquesoft, the ESICenter Sinertic Andino and the ESI@net partner Alsus IT Group together with ESI Tecnalia.
